Earlier this year I was asked to create a magical set of cinema seats for the iconic fabric house Sanderson Design Group.
They were to feature in the Sanderson showroom at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour in London for the launch of a new collection. I had to sign an NDA before they would discuss what the fabric would be and OMG was I excited when I found out they had collaborated with Disney Home!! Sanderson and Disney Home have created a magical collection of vintage inspired fabrics and wallpapers. Not just for children's rooms, the colours are soft and faded and very, very pretty.
To get to work with the iconic Mickey Mouse was an absolute joy. When I unrolled the fabric and each little face peered out at me I couldn't help but smile. I think that is what the whole collection will do - put a smile on everyone's faces. We all have a favourite character that takes us back to our childhood or a special moment in our lives, whether it is Mickey, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh or Bambi - they are all in the collection and more, so do go and check it out.
Yesterday I visited Focus, one of the most important design events in the interiors calendar, for the launch of the Disney Home X Sanderson collection and there were my cinema seats in pride of place looking spectacular against the backdrop of wallpaper and billowing curtains from the collection. The Focus 23 event is on all week 18-22 September 2023, so if you can, it is well worth a visit.
I also attended a conversation in design with Lisa Montague Sanderson CEO, Claire Vallis Creative Director and Disney's VP of Merchandising & Product Gavin Abery and Sonia Samra Disney VP of Fashion & Home, hosted by Elle Decoration Editor-in-Chief Ben Spriggs. It was inspiring to hear them talk with such passion about the birth of this collaboration when the discovery of some samples from almost 100 years ago were discovered in Sanderson's incredible archive.
